So.
Two weeks ago I put my son on a plane to Ireland. He is taking a "gap year" and is spending part of it in a program that offers outdoor activities, volunteering, travel, and leadership.
Before he went, I suggested he should keep a travel journal, preferably an online blog. You'll have experiences you want to remember, I said! Your grandparents and parents will love hearing about your time there, I said! You can use it to apply to college or other programs, I said!
This suggestion was met with withering disinterest.
But you know who can blog? I CAN.
I can't blog about his experience, because those are his stories to tell. Also, he appears to be committed to keeping family communication to brief, unsatisfying texts, so I've got a real lack of material. But I can't sure blog about MY experience as his mother. Voila.

You'd think I could write in this thing once in a while. It's been.... over three years. Yikes.
Well, life gets in the way, or more accurately I have other outlets and a blog doesn't seem so important. But I think back over the past few years and wish I captured more of what has happened in my life in a format like this, where it's easier to scroll back and read later.
